Broadway’s hottest new family ticket is, apparently, Some Like It Hot. Not only did Sarah Jessica Parker bring her entire clan to opening night of the new musical adaptation of the Marilyn Monroe classic on Sunday night, but Uma Thurman also made a rare appearance with her 10-year-old daughter, Luna Thurman-Busson, by her side. Thurman kept it buttoned up for a night at the theater by layering a structured grey blazer over a black turtleneck and skirt. The blazer was cinched with a black leather belt. Luna, however, opted for a bit of color—wearing a moss green poncho over a matching dress. She proudly sported a Celine clutch as well.
Thurman’s eldest daughter
Thurman’s eldest daughter, Maya Hawke, is, of course, currently a red carpet presence of her own, after starring in projects like Stranger Things and Do Revenge. Her son, Levon, meanwhile, is a burgeoning musician. She shares the eldest two with ex-husband Ethan Hawke. Luna, however, is from her later relationship with French financier Arpad Busson. Luna isn’t a complete newcomer to the red carpet. Thurman brought her along to a handful events when she was younger, but this is the tween’s first red carpet in quite some time.
According to critics, Uma
And Luna was lucky to score the tickets. Some Like It Hot has received positive reviews since its premiere.
The original Billy Wilder-directed film, released in 1959, found Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon as two musicians who are forced to go undercover in drag after witnessing some mobster shenanigans. Down in Miami, they meet up with a singer played by Monroe. The Broadway adaptation features an all-star creative cast. Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, the team behind Hairpsray, handled the songs. Playwright Matthew López and comedian Amber Ruffin handled the book. Entertainment Weekly calls it “a booze-soaked, boisterous good time from start to finish,” while the Times calls it “an invitation …to a new and intersectional stage of liberation.”
Thurman is something of a Broadway premiere regular, but this one seemed as good a chance as ever to introduce her daughter to the Great White Way.
Downside to Barbie finally premiering
The only downside to Barbie finally premiering in theaters on July 21st is that it means the movie’s press tour will have ended. Margot Robbie and her stylist, Andrew Mukamal, have kept busy, delivering look after look for the film’s various press stops, taking inspiration from decades of actual Barbie doll style. But Robbie isn’t the only one providing a fashion feast. Ryan Gosling, America Ferrera, Issa Rae, and the rest of the Barbies and Kens have also been embracing the theme of the film for their press looks, making this publicity circuit one of the best in recent memory.
It’s no surprise then, that when the cast all came together for the Los Angeles premiere of the film, they delivered a bright and stylish fashion display made up of pinks, blues, and blacks.Along with the cast, other A-list celebrities descended upon the pink carpet, some of whom, like Laura Dern, simply didn’t want to miss the fun.The result was a premiere for the ages, and you aren’t going to want to miss one look from the evening.
Uma Thurman made an appearance with her rarely-seen 10-year-old daughter, Luna.
The lookalike duo stepped out on Dec. 11, for the opening night of the Broadway musical “Some Like It Hot.” Thurman, 52, lit up the red carpet in a belted blazer and black midi skirt, while Luna opted for a stylish green cape over a matching dress. Both Thurman and Luna wore their blonde hair tied back for the event.
“Spreading holiday spirit,” she captioned the photo.
Luna’s dad is Thurman’s ex-fiancé, Arpad Busson. Thurman also shares Maya, 24, and Levon, 20, with her former husband, Ethan Hawke.
- Thurman made headlines in 2012, when she revealed that she and Busson chose the name Rosalind Arusha Arkadina Altalune Florence for their baby girl.
- During a 2013 appearance on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon,” Thurman explained that it was her eldest child, Maya, who convinced her to go with the super long moniker.
- Uma Thurman and her youngest had a special mother-daughter date over the weekend!
- The actress, 52, stepped out with her 10-year-old daughter Luna Thurman-Busson at the Some Like It Hot Broadway opening at New York City’s Shubert Theatre on Sunday.
- In photographs from the outing, Thurman rocked a grey blazer, black turtleneck and a flowy black skirt while her youngest opted for a green cape, matching dress and small black bag.

Thurman was at the event in support of her friend Matthew López — cowriter of the Some Like It Hot book with Amber Ruffin — who has Thurman starring in his upcoming Red, White, and Royal Blue film.
The actress shares Luna with ex-fiancé Arpad Busson, and is also mom to daughter Maya, 24, and son Levon, 20, with ex-husband Ethan Hawke.
Following in his parents’ footsteps
Levon’s acting career is beginning to take off, with an upcoming role as Jonny on the Apple TV+ series, The Crowded Room, alongside Tom Holland and Emmy Rossum. He’s also set to appear in the Zoë Kravitz-directed film, Pussy Island.
In terms of Maya, she scored a significant role in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood in addition to landing her breakout role as Robin Buckley in the third season of Stranger Things, which was released in 2019.
She’s also set to act alongside her mother in The Kill Room with Samuel L. Jackson.
Maya has aspirations to take her Stranger Things character to new heights, too, telling Rolling Stone in September that she would consider a spin-off, set in the nineties and featuring Joe Keery’s Steve Harrington.
“Normally I wouldn’t really be a proponent of a spin-off, but if I got to do it with Joe Keery, I would do anything,” Hawke said. “He’s so funny and wonderful and smart, and he’s got great boundaries.
